Carol Hadlock, Licensed
Marriage and Family Therapist (License #MFC15315) in Los Gatos,
California.
She graduated from Colorado State University
with a B.A. In Journalism and then a teaching certificate in
1993. After teaching for several years, and through her process of
personal and spiritual growth, She began to realize her passion for
helping others.
She graduated with a Master's degree from JFK University with an
emphasis in Holistic Studies in 2009. She is now in training as an
intern at the Process Therapy Institute in Los Gatos.
Julia has completed the first year of Somatic Experiencing
training. Based on Peter Levine's theories of trauma, Somatic
Experiencing uses somatic techniques to assist clients in completing
trauma responses stored in the body.
She has also completed the first year of Unearthing,
Existential-Humanistic training based on the work of Jim
Bugental. Existential-Humanistic methods explore ways of working with
the client in the present moment using the client-therapist
relationship and the relationship of the inner consciousness to that
of the collective consciousness.
Julia has a Queer Studies certificate from JFK university,
maintains her California teaching certificate, and is a pre-licensed
member of California Association of Marriage and Family
Therapists.
What Is My Approach To Working With Clients?
Psychotherapy is about making changes. Letting go of old beliefs and
patterns that are keeping you from having the life and relationships
you want. As an MFT intern (pending registration) at the Process
Therapy Institute in Los Gatos I work with individuals, couples, and
families to let go of those beliefs, explore stuck places and make
necessary changes.
Deciding to come to therapy can be a big decision and is often one
of last resort, as a result of much pain. With caring and
authenticity, I Use a variety of techniques from various theoretical
frameworks from Object-Relations, Existential-Humanistic, Buddhist,
Gestalt, or Cognitive Behavioral therapy. I have an eclectic approach,
using whatever the situation requires to engage you in staying present
with whatever is happening and get to the root of the issue.
I see therapy as a collaborative process between client and therapist
with the relationship being at the center of therapy. I invite clients
to explore life's most celebratory and challenging moments in a
present and self-authentic way serving as a guide to his/her journey.
What is an Intern?
Marriage and Family Therapist licensure is regulated by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. In
order to be licensed in the state of California, therapists must
complete an approved Master's program, including a field placement in
which they see clients for approximately one school year under the
supervision of a licensed therapist. At that time they are considered
Trainees. After graduation they apply for an intern number under
which they practice, continuing to be supervised while completing 3000
hours of service, after which they must take licensing exams.
An Intern is a therapist who has their Master's degree, has completed a
field placement and is in the process of completing those hours, but
remains under the supervision of a licensed therapist. Please see the
BBS website for more details.
Fees
My fees are on a sliding scale.
My fee is generally $80-$100 per hour. However, I do reserve a few
low fee spots for a select number of clients who could not otherwise
afford my services.
